HISTORYThe Polish Behavioral Therapy Association (PBTA) was founded on 5 March 2002 in Kraków and was registered in the National Court Register on 19 July 2002 as a legal entity. It is a national, non-profit organization that groups together therapists who put the behavioral therapy in practice, and currently there are 110 members in our Association. GOALSOur mission is to provide professional support and assistance to the handicapped suffering from emotional and intellectual dysfunctions as well as to their families.
The main activities of the PBTA, as set out by the statute, include: - to provide professional support and assistance to the handicapped suffering from the emotional and intellectual dysfunctions and their families, and to initiate and carry out all kinds of activities necessary for the improvement of health of the handicapped and their adaptation into society;
- to provide trainings, publications, seminars and conferences, aiming at dissemination of knowledge on ideas and rules of the behavioral therapy,
- to encourage society at large to act for the sake of the handicapped and develop the mutual aid movements of people connected with them, by supporting, for example, social initiatives aiming at the improvement of the conditions of life of the handicapped;
- to provide professional assistance and coaching to therapists, teachers, parents and other people working for the sake of the handicapped.

The Board's representative – Anna Kyzioł ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTSMost prominent achievements and enterprises of the PSTB: - we obtained a status of an affiliated member of the International Association for Behaviour Analysis
- we initiate, together with the Foundation of Barbara Piasecka-Johnson, foundation of therapeutic centres for autistic children all over the territory of Poland
- we were co-organisers of the First International Conference on Behavioural Therapy of Autistic Persons (Poland, Gdańsk, 7-9.06.2002)
- we co-operate with a model centre Princeton Child Development Institute
- we run a Policlinic of Behavioural Therapy – its activity includes diagnostic, instructional and therapeutic consultations for autistic children and children with similar disorders
- we have created and now co-ordinate a well-developed educational system offer which enriches the knowledge about autism and its different aspects as well as principles of conducting education and therapy for autistic persons based on the Behavioural Analysis – it is estimated that 700 persons have used the offer so far
- we publish a periodical „Krok za krokiem” (Eng.: “Step by Step”) , which includes articles, among others, of the world known specialists in the field of education of the autistic persons
- we co-operate with several dozen national centres and organisations (among others, in Krakow, Gdańsk, Poznań, Częstochowa, Sandomierz, Warszawa, Chorzów), which general mission is to ensure effective rehabilitation of the handicapped
- we provide substantial assistance for the personnel of several national centres which implement education of the handicapped based on behavioural techniques
